Statement of Ethics
I am participating in the Photography Ethics Centre’s Statement of Ethics Campaign, a movement towards increased transparency, accountability and awareness of ethics in photography.
Dignity and Respect
I aim to act with integrity and transparency. I hold respect for participants and collaborators and do not intend to expose them to any unacknowledged risk when making or sharing images. I aim to recognise the invaluable contributions of participants and collaborators and support their wish to move a project in different ways. I recognise the importance of people’s ability to both offer and withdraw fully informed consent. I research the wider contexts of my projects with curiosity, sensitivity and openness.
Responsibility and Accountability
I remain responsible for my ongoing learning and reflection around the continually evolving nature of photography ethics, de-colonialism and intersectional feminisms. I am open to engaging in informed conversation around my own and others’ practice. and revisit older works when necessary.
Impact
I continually and collaboratively reflect on my image-making and dissemination practices to minimise any negative impact on communities, customs and the environment. I aim to elevate my practice beyond my own personal needs so that it may have a positive social legacy. Any collaboration will involve approaching and empowering existing provision.
